Re: Ongoing project
Looks interesting so far. Do you have any setting sketches (ie, ship interiors, planet surfaces/cities, etc.) other than what you've got on the page layouts?

Re: Ongoing project
Thanks Warrior :P Yes I finally crawled out of my little hole in the universe...lol It was getting cramped with all the papers and pencils n stuff :P
I do have interior sketches, Mr. Evil. I just need to scan them. I would say 95% of all the concept artwork for this project is all sitting in a rather thickly packed folder. I will see about scanning some of the interior sketches for you tonight or tomorrow.

bah I am so rusty at using any 3d app. I don't think I would be able to finish anything that looked decent LOL

Re: Ongoing project
You never know until you try. I'm sure, if you did start something in 3D, it would come back to you quickly. (it's like riding a bike, only without all that annoying exercise)

Well, having never fully understood how to use my 3d app I am at a lack of stuff to remember LOL!
this is the best I have been able to manage so far when I last messed with 3d stuff about a year'ish ago

Re: Ongoing project
Know the feeling, recently got back on the bandwagon myself when i did a mix media project for school. We are talking weeks of tweaking and experimenting with the same few seconds (it's for a commercial) of an animated grey alien interacting with me. Suppose at some point I'm gonna have post a link once it's online. The point is, never sell yourslf short, just keep poking and prodding and sooner or later you will bring your creation to life.

Re: Ongoing project
One thing I've learned about 3D is that it takes time, I only know of a handful of people who picked it up right away. The rest of us took much longer, years in my case, to produce anything decent.
But it sounds like you're pretty busy with this comic project in your spare time. Still, your ship (I'm assuming that's what it is) isn't a bad start. With some tweaking, it could be where you want it.

Re: Ongoing project
I figured this is one way to keep me going on thie, Grim. I have a bad habit of getting lazy sometimes and putting my projects down for a little too long, which I do not want to do with this anymore lol
Oh yeah, I am not expecting to be good at 3d all at once. I've been learning how to use maya very slowly from one of my friends when he has time to teach me, but right now the program is not installed on my computer *shruggs*

Re: Ongoing project
Is that a standard issue SF issue uniform she's wearing?
Given that outfit, looks like a mad tribble doesn't want NO for an answer!

Re: Ongoing project
LOL No its not a standard issue uniform. It is a flight suit, which is currently unzipped. There IS an undershirt (will be noticably RED when colored)
:P

Re: Ongoing project
The uniform reminds me of some of William Ware Theiss' and Robert Blackman's concept sketches for the TNG and DS9 uniforms.
The ST comic has a bit too much of an Anime look for my taste but, as far as Anime comics go, it looks pretty good.

Re: Ongoing project
I would like to see those concepts!
If I can get my lazy self to do more than just work on the last couple pages for this I will do up a drawing of the flight suit fully buttoned up and ready for action :P
:P I like drawing in this style. It's fun for me. I could draw less anime if I wanted to, but I am just having fun so *shruggs*

Re: Ongoing project
Don't change your drawing style just for me. It's really more of a preference thing and I'm not a huge Anime fan. However, I think there are many people who would enjoy an Anime-style Star Trek comic.
I'll see if I can dredge up some of the TNG and DS9 uniform concepts online. I have them in the book The Art of Star Trek but that would mean hooking up my scanner (after I find room to put that huge thing around or on my computer cart) and scanning them.

Re: Ongoing project
I found a page with some of the costume concepts to which I was referring:
http://www.ottens.co.uk/forgottentrek/tng_7.php
Those are most of the TNG costume concept drawings from The Art of Star Trek (in fact, someone could probably be charged with copyright infringement but that's beside the point.) You can probably tell which ones made me draw parallels to your uniform design. And the DS9 ones are on this page:
http://www.ottens.co.uk/forgottentrek/ds9_7.php
They're not as much similar to yours as a few of the TNG ones are but they do have that open jacket look, even more so than how most of the actors on the show wore their uniforms.

Re: Ongoing project
That site doesn't allow you to direct link to images (probably to save on bandwidth.) But, I went to the page and I see the two you mean and I like them also. In fact, I like the jumpsuit with the TNG color scheme a little better than the uniforms they actually used on DS9 and Voyager. But, they obviously decided to go with something a little different (unfortunately. )

Re: Ongoing project
Really cool sketches Looks like "More trouble with Killer-Tribbles" For my taste an Anime Star Trek Comic is an interesting new aspect of this show.

Thanks guys. I will post updated inks and colors as I get them.
Yah its a pity though that the artwork in the Star Trek manga is very plain.

Re: Ongoing project
Some very interesting work here!
I'm not a very big fan of Star Trek (or Star Wars... or Star Gate... or Starship Troopers... come to think of it, most things with "star" in it don't grab my attention), but please don't hold that against me.
I am, however, a great believer in new and original stuff... this has got lots of potential.
Cheers! — Möe
