Phaser Type III
This is the TNG Phaser Rifle i'm working on. It's almost finished, just needs some more work on the Power Pack.
I'm planning on making it the late DS9/Dominion War version, which features a sling, a visible trigger and an optional sight/flashlight pack.
They also added an additional control panel just behind the flipup-sight late in the series, it looked like it was just a sticker but unfortunately i can't find a good picture that shows it.
I don't really want to wait for the DS9 bluray release, does anyone happen to have a good picture of said panel? Maybe someone who bought an actual prop?

Re: Phaser Type III
Here's a picture of the panel in question. It's really the best i could find, but it's still way too blurry to really make out much.

Re: Phaser Type III
Thanks. I already watched every DS9 episode i remember featuring that thing, then i searched all the internet for prop auctions but found nothing usable.
I'll probably have to come up with something passable looking myself.

Re: Phaser Type III
That's looking great. I love the TNG phaser rifle.
Yeah, I remember the sight, but I don't know of any good images of it. I can feel your pain, I've had to work from blurry images before. It's never easy.

Re: Phaser Type III
I plan on incorporating a little screen into the sightpack, so that'll be more or less a freehand anyway. It's the flat, sticker-like looking panel between the rear power pack and the flip-up sight i would need pictures of.
It wasn't there in TNG and at the beginning of DS9, i think it was added somewhere between season 4 and 5.

Re: Phaser Type III
I'm actually talking about this one
But thanks anyway.
The panel obviously wasn't there back in TNG, they probably considered the buttons on the "cobrahead" to be enough of control back then.
Then during DS9 they must have realized that it's not a really very ergonomic way of changing settings and added the sticker.
There's also this flashlight they added in some episodes, which completely obstructs the flipup sight so i added a screen as backup sight.

Re: Phaser Type III
Yeah, they tended to tinker with the props between episodes.
The CGI model is looking fantastic.

Re: Phaser Type III
The cricket. I always did like those. I used to have a keychain one that was probably about the right size.
Yours looks great.

Re: Phaser Type III
Thanks, but it was pretty rare in the series. I can remember only two or three episodes with the flashlight right now.
Here's another one, the Type II "Phaserang"
