Rendering Scenes and AVI files in Lightwave

Good Day ,
I am new here. Actually i wanted to know a few things about the rendering part and the avi files that are in Lightwave. In the render options under save animation i chose the avi file format. But under the options some of the format i chose wont work and i get the error when i start to render the scene? Why is this? By the way the error is Cannot Set Stream. The compression will affect the quality right. How to get the best out of the avi. Can anyone explain the avi options.
