God Phoenix
Hi,
It's been a long time since I posted or rendered anything, but now that I have a new HD (80gb), I was able to reinstall LW. Found this model on Axeman's site and had to do something with it. Comments are welcome. Enjoy!!!!!!!

I haven't seen this model before. What are the stats?
How big is the ship? From this shot, it looks huge when taking the size of the wave swells into account.

There should be some of the land visible unter the water. The ship texture doesn't look realistic.

The Phoenix
OK, boy do I feel old now. The Phoenix is a ship from the Anime series Gatchiman (Batttle of the Planets here in the US).
skyhawk223- I don't have the stats, but if you look at the rear 3 vertical stablizers, the middle one is the tail of a small jet. Also , if you look forward you see a small white bubble. The group of heros could stand in there, if I remember correctly.
The Phoenix is a large craft. It had missle launchers, as it's primary weapon. It also had a mode called 'The Firey Phoenix' where it went super fast and morphed into a pheonix that could blast through anything.
If you want more info, just do a search on the names above, and you will find a lot of websites!
I am going to go off now and listen to my MP3 of the Battle of the Planets theme.

unfortunately there are so few pics of the God Phoenix. I looked hard about a year ago for pics.
btw the plane is huge. that thing that lookd like a fuel tank on the wingtips is actually a compartment. On one side is this rahter tall tank and the other a sort of amphibious motorcycle sled.

I thought I was the "God Phoenix"...
Oh well.
How about some more views of it?

I found this data on the Phoenix:
G-5
Type:The Godphoenix
Chief Weapon: Bird Missiles (approx. 20), Super Bird Missiles (2), Kagaku Ninpo Hinotori (translation: Science Ninja Technique "Firebird" otherwise known as the "Fiery Phoenix"). These weapons can only be used when G-1 through G-4 are aboard.
Top Speed: (G-5 Only) 80 knots above water, 40 knots under water; When assembled, top airspeed is Mach 5
Operational Ceiling: 30,000 meters (90,000 feet)*; underwater depth of 2,000 meters (6,000 feet); heat tolerance limit 3,000 degrees (Centigrade?)
Notes: The Godphoenix is the only vehicle that doesn't have an alternate disguise. It is hidden in an underwater hangar beneath Ryu's marina or on base when not in use. Its only handicap is that all five vehicles must be aboard before the ship can use its weapons or perform at top capacity. The only exception to the rule is the Kagaku Ninpo Hinotori Kage Bunshin in which the firebird is powered up, then all five vehicles split into individual firebirds for a short period of time.
The exact mechanics of the firebird transformation aren't clear, but evidently take place when special generators are pushed to the "Red Zone." It's possible that the four smaller vehicles are used as poles to effect a dimensional shift.
Powered by jet engines above water, and electric engines underwater (jet intakes close for underwater travel). The main cargo area can carry approximately 200 people (episode #42)
* Some sources state that the operational ceiling of the Godphoenix is 90,000 feet; however, in Gatchaman #9, "Demon from the Moon," the Godphoenix traveled into space to intercept the enemy mech. This is the only instance where the ship did not appear to have an operational limit.

Nice picture!
I loved that series as a kid.
Wow that was a long time ago - about grade 5 if I remember right - 1978 or 1979.
I built one of these about 3 years ago.
I found it and rendered up a quick pic.

That one looks nice. I was going to do another view with Axeman's model, but I see you beat me to it. The center fin is correctly colored on yours. Nice model there.
