These guy's are another one of those projects that boasts a self contained launch and recovery space system. A number of projects just like this one have come and gone. My favorite was the DC-X which actually flew a few times with a near full scale version (untethered).

The DC-X is now Blue Origin and is funded by Jeff Bezos (they are only about 30 minutes south of my house
