B-type Warbird Cruiser
or as Starfleet commonly called a D'deridex-class Warbird of the Romulan Star Empire
Now be patient. This mesh will be a slow progress.
LOST TO NEW EDIT
I can appreciate why you don't see this mesh built often as it has been very difficult to achieve the right hull shape. It has inspired me to develop a new modeling or updated [modern] style model. Those you re-call my old meshes were…well to be polite…a glob of poly’s
I am excited to begin this. This shape has taken me 3-4 weeks to perfect…am not kidding!
Well then let the fun begin. I also plan to add a few un-cannon details…because I can

Re: B-type Warbird Cruiser
Bed is overrated. The satisfaction comes from a completed mesh, a blinding headache and RSI. Job well done!

Re: B-type Warbird Cruiser
anyone have experience with - clay render / ambient occlusion for the renders having trouble attempting this effect with the mental ray feature causes a crash close
I get a "not enough memory max will now close error" when I try it. I have 2gb memory so what am I doing wrong

Re: B-type Warbird Cruiser
Sorry man - no help from me. I've had problems with memory using shaders when I have too many lights and get a similar error because the system says it does not have enough memory to calculate the shadows. I have 3GB and a 2GB swap file. I'm not using a new version of MAX though - I have to use Ronnie Olsthoorn E-Light.

Re: B-type Warbird Cruiser
never mind...at one time there was a website that had tips on 3dmax workability and stuff. Anyone know of a updated one for max8?

Re: B-type Warbird Cruiser
Max's HDD page file? ever hear about adjusting that? I did tweak the render settings and found out why I got the crash and resolved that but am curious about the HDD thing

Re: B-type Warbird Cruiser
I have spent a few days learning the Mentalray Ambient Occlusion and here it is....also changed some details and re-fined some areas.
I feel this area is complete and have started to move on - Bad news though is the work I have done for the past 4-5hrs...well it was crap so I deleted it. and am no disgruntled and heart broken [Mo's voice from Simpson's "drama Queen!"] okay maybe not that devastated
I was fiddling with the head so after deleting it no news to report as I was not pleased with the results...bah it must be perfect!
well here is my first clay render type effect...
LOST TO NEW EDIT
pretty neat - the one thing I like is that it does bring out any error type render issues. They were easy enough to fix just time consuming
So the Mountain Dew Voltages have worn out so until next time....away we go

Re: B-type Warbird Cruiser
status report....I rebuilt the wing because of a flow problem I forgot to mesh in. Nothing lost other than time. I have nothing worth posting yet and look forward to Sunday the 19th as I will get at least 4-5hrs to play so there it is....
that flow problem had to do with the underside of the wing...to clear up confusion
