The Whole Fleet
I may be going insane. Though, I will have to consult with the voices in my head before I can make a firm diagnosis.
Apparently, for reasons unknown to me, I decided it would be a good idea to do a fleet shot with my TMP-era ships. 11 ships in all. Though some are the same mesh, none have the same name or registry markings. This picture either proves that I am going nuts or, at the very least, that I have spent way too much time modeling Star Trek ships from the TMP era. Though, to my credit, I didn’t do a fleet shot of my TOS ships (yet.) Now, that would be insane.
I also decided to render in 1080p for a change. That makes it a bit easier to see the registries on the back ships, though they’re still pretty small. However, the image was unbalanced and there was wasted space at the top, so I “letterboxed” it.
BTW, don't panic if you think you've seen this picture on a couple other forums. You're most likely not crazy (though, it wouldn't hurt to have some tests run to be sure. )

Re: The Whole Fleet
i think it would be odd if the voices were saying "Beam me up, Scotty!"
nicely done!
edit: Looks like the connie-refit in the back left forgot to turn on his deflector lights. Thats a moving violation worth 2 points and a 50-gold pressed latinum fine

Well, that would depend on which Connie refit it is. It's actually this one:
I stuck it way in back because of the TOS-style signage.

Re: The Whole Fleet
OK, I think it’s official. I’ve gone nuckin’ futs.
As with the last one, no ship names or registries are duplicated. Though, unlike the last one, there are few repeaters. There are two Constitution-class ships that are the series version, the other two are the pilot versions, the rest of the ships are all different from one another. 16 ships in all in this one. Each ship (besides the series Connie) is a kitbash of my 2007 Connie model. Most use pretty much the same textures, just the saucer and nacelle texutres are different because those contain the names and registries.
Ironically, even though there are more ships, I spent less time rendering these because they have less lights. Also, most of my TMP-era ships have higher quality textures, though these actually rendered pretty decently.

Re: The Whole Fleet
The freakin' deflector light IS on! Look at the blue glowy section showing between the deflector and the housing.
@Ger: Not going to happen.
However, here's something for some fun. Can anybody tell me which two ships are in both fleet images? (TOS version and TMP version) There are only two that are (basically) the same ship.

Cool renders.
I would guess those are all rendered in Lightwave.

Re: The Whole Fleet
I don't really use Blender that much. This was all done in trueSpace.

Nice 'cept they're not on a 'level plane'. All the real fleets I've seen were on a 'level plane'. Not sure why but have the gut feeling that in this position they'd end up flying into each other.

Re: The Whole Fleet
The idea wasn't to convey realistic movement, just to show the ships that I've built in these eras. Having them on a level plane is nice (but not necessary, as this is space) but you can't see the ships in the back that well when you put them all on the same plane. Also, if you want to get technical, some of the ships are also too close together, there would be no need to fly in that tight a formation in space. But, like I said, this isn't supposed to be a realist movement piece, just a picture of some of the stuff I've done over the past 4 years or so.

;-) I know ... it was very late and the first thought that crossed my mind at the time. I did notice some of the placements were too close, looked like maybe even some overlap [earlier pic] ... Very nice looking ships!

Re: The Whole Fleet
There's no overlap in either, but some of them are uncomfortably close together.
