Default Space Ark

This design is featured in George Pals "When Worlds Collide".

The last image is mine, and its not perfect, I would need a lot more ref images to be sure

A new member wmwconnors expressed interest in the design and
I thought I would see how I would build it....

wmwconnors if you read this, you can use this thread if you like to show us what your are doing with the model.

I used a spline drawing tool in Lightwave to build it...... not sure what Blender has in it place. following the over all shape on one side and then Lathe it...

Wow. Fast work. Hopefully I can take a crack at it this weekend. My biggest problem is simply that I'm going at it with no actual training.

Can anyone point me at a good tutorial that starts off by assuming I'm an idiot?

What program do you want to use for modelling.... it would help to refine our searches

I have used Sketch Up (which I know is far from ideal, but I learned it to do packaging mock-ups and it was great for that). I have also used Hexagon. I tried Blender, but I found the interface was...well...not very friendly. I am about to try using Bryce but have not yet.
