TOS Shuttlecraft
While talking with Warrior the other day I asked if anyone done a TOS Shuttle for the Gladiators. Well when didn't have one, but he told me that he had one that was never finished. So I asked if I could finish it up. Warrior did 98% of the modeling (basically I just fixed a gap, added windows to the doors, and modeled the strips in.), and I did the texturing. One of the nice things about this model in the reg. All of them are textures so they can easily be swapped out to be used with another ship. Here's a couple of pictures I've rendered with it.
The shuttle Voltaire leaves the Excalibur.
The shuttle Voltaire hurries to catch up to the Excalibur as it beings to break orbit.
I also uploaded the shuttle to the repo under my name if anyone wants it.

According to this picture of the full-size mock-up, the center window is square while the outer windows are more rectangular. http://members.aol.com/IDICPage/Galileo2.html Also, the front panel (with the windows) should be recessed slightly below the sides. This pic also shows that the front of the nacelles are flat, something I never notice before (might be replacements rather than original)
This pic shows that sometimes the windows were white (possibly shutters?) http://employees.csbsju.edu/rsorense...g-finished.gif
On this page you can see that the door is the same color as the hull: white/light grey on top and darker grey beneath. The nacelles should also be darker. http://members.aol.com/WMccullars/TOSGalileo.html
For the first pic, if you showed Excalibur from the back, with on open shuttle bay (more work), it would emphasize that Votaire was leaving. Another angle that might be interesting is to show the bottom of Excalibur very large in the background.
A small nit: I think that you've written Voltaire with a small "v" rather than a capital "V."

David, I still have the 5.6 version that I sent to Minosh.
I haven't looked at his mods to it yet as I haven't DL'd it yet.
It's in 6.5 format? Ugh!

Ya 6.5 format ugh! It be great if you could send it to me. I converted FAdmMinosh's version to 5.6 but the texture's wouldn't load or even find them.

It should be in Lightwave 6.0 (since that's what I have ) As for the textures, I used a JPG format (I forgot that I can use them via the plugin I have, sorry) I can covert them to TGA if you want them.
As for the windows, I really didn't touch them, but I can tweak them since you mentioned them. As for color, I've seen them both black and white (I perfer black myself). The door is easier fixed by setting the diffuse up ( I though it looked better darker myself ) Thanks for the pics though.
As for the Voltaire being in lower case, it was meant to be like that. If you look at the Galileo, you'll see the G is in lowercase as well (it's just a couple of font sizes bigger).

It's not the texture format. LW is not asking for the texture's.

Hmmmm...that's odd about the textures. Maybe one of these Lightwave master can help, since I've only ever worked with v.6 of Lightwave.
Anyhoo I rendered up a new pic with the shuttlecraft. I've played with the front windows and messed with the textures to match the photo's Masao sent (btw, I think we should just make Masao our reference guy. I spent an hour looking for reference photos for the shuttle and didn't come up with most of these good ones Masao did. He seems to have a nack for finding these ) So here's the pic...

The shuttle is cool. However, the shuttlebay should probably be brighter. There weren't very many dark rooms back in the TOS day. Brighten it up a bit.
I think we need more shuttles and other smaller support craft to get a full complement of ships.

thomas7g did the aqua-shuttle from TAS, and meshula design a cool little suppor ship.
Now, back to my shuttle-
LW 6.0 *will* export as a 5.6 format. HOWEVER, all texturing is LOST.
Therefore, you must have both 5.6 and 6.0 (or 6.5) open, looking at the surfacing, and put the settings manually into 5.6
As ot the shutle name... heh heh... I wanted to keep in "Excalibur" mode and call it the Arthur II or Lancelot, etc

Ok, I've uploaded the shuttlecraft with Masao's modification along with the extra textures to be able to make it the shuttlecraft Lancelot . And in response to Skyhawk's comment, I was just being lazy with the picture (I'm learning I can't do that with you all ) So in response I did some more modeling in the shuttle bay itself and made some custom textures for the floor. It's lightly modeled (i.e. just the major stuff, no recessed ladders or anything ). I used the ST, Starfleet Technical Manual for how to do the shuttlebay. Well here we go again.

There's a few standard sites for references for model builders, including the IDIC page, CultTV man, and Starship Modeler. Bernd's site also has good stuff. You can find all these sites and more on Bernd's link page.
I think your windows are stil a bit too tall. When I measured the picture linked earlier, the window height is about 26% of the total height of the front panel. Yours windows are about 37%.The space above the windows are about 15% of the total panel height. Also, this front panel still needs to be recessed below the sides.
I'm sure they're are some pictures of the shuttle leaving the shuttlebay. I'll look around. The shuttle bay is pretty white with very little markings. That shuttle looks pretty small in that big bay. Maybe you could park a few other shuttles along the back wall.
A nice beauty shot of the shuttle leaving would be the pic you posted first but with the Enterprise pointed in the opposite direction.

A ha! Here's a page with pictures of the inside of the shuttle bay. This is another site on Bernd's link page called Star Trek in Sound and Vision http://www.stinsv.com/TOS/tosshipv.htm

FadmMinosh, is this shuttle going to be part of the website? If so, make some 6 views and send them to Warrior. We are getting ready to go live on the site and want to have as much content as we can get. I think it would be a great addition.
Will that be released? I want to see if it will fit in my USS Hawk.
