anyway
anyone else here read these excellent books?
with these I'd ignore the hype... they are excellently written and a joy to read.....

I've read the first three atm.

Lupin's still my favorite teacher and I have to admit, Prisoner is my best book so far.

I've just started Chamber, but I go at a slow pace.

I read them earlier this year, after I got all 4 as a Christmas present. I didn't have high expectations when I started, and I very pleasantly surprised.

I'm not buying into the hype, but I am looking forward to seeing the movie.

BTW, I'm 30 as well.

they are for kids, but not in that patronising way that gets on your nerves, and are, in fact, a BLOODY good read, it's like it's only incidentally a kids book...

(and btw, i'm 22 ^_^;; )

I seem to remember a couple of my favorite books when I was a kid, Bunnicula and another novel with the same characters, were like that as well. They were geared towards kids, but they were VERY well written and I often think of buying them again...

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the series, too, as well as the movie (one of the few that actually had a scene that was better than it's book counterpart - the Reptile House).

In fact, in the interim before the next book comes out, I'm actually getting my HP fix by writing a fanfic about another Hogwarts student, set about ten years after the series (with Harry and Hermione getting married in chapter four or five. Haven't gotten to it yet...). Haven't been too busy on it, though. It's just an occasional thing...
