My first Cool Render :)
Here we go
Got paid a bit for dog sitting so I got some props and here we go....
Armor is VAP-Grim and everything else was feebies or really cheap
(Been doing CGI got about a week, so I hope I'm with the learning curve )

not bad, a couple of things that could make it better in my opinion though.
1st: The lighting seems a bit flat, use onmi's or a skylight to get a simulated GI, then add some spot lights for shadow and highlight.
2nd: Composition. One thing that I have found is that you rarely want to have the main focus of the image directly in front of the viewer. placing the focus to one side or the other helps to create a viewing triangle and keep the viewers eye's moving around the composition. The placement of the grass for instance doesn't look right because its all growing around the person, try spreading it out a bit to make it more realistic...
Your doing really well for only a weeks practice. Keep at it.

Updated version of the pic
Updates:
> Moved camera offset
> Changed a few props
> changed the lighting
> ran the anti-alias thingy (Technical term, try to understand ) before rendering
> Photoshopped the image (Just some brightness/darkness stuff and contrast, to get more 'mood' since it's supposed to be in ruins, not bright shiny places)

Oh, and before I forget again.....
Special thanks go out to Fretslayer, who spent several hours on IM with me last night, giving me advice on how to load the props, get stuff working, and generally just make the bleeping armor do what it was supposed to. He also solved several bug problems I was having with other props, and got those working as well (See that wreckd motorcycle in the background right side? It's textures had to be manually loaded, Grrrrr) so to Fretslayer, I say THANKS!!!

My NEXT cool render
Bit of a story for this one. I crashed Poser about 30 times making it at least. Discovered that V4 will not work with the armor model, and V3 cannot have body morphs, ANY, if she will fit in it and not poke through. Face and head morphs, fine, no problem (With no helmet) but body has to be all stock values.
Then I had to make the image in layers. Discovered the hard way, I can't make the image as I first tried. Too many objects in the scene. I worked with Fretslayer again (He's been teaching me a lot over IM, walking me through how to do stuff, helping me fix problems, diagnosing bugs, stuff like that) and he walked me through making a background, then putting in the figures and foreground.
Then I did the render, and it still wasn't right. Too bright, color levels were off, several other things. So I photoshopped it to change a few things. Make it darker, change color values, change contrast, apply a coupl filters. And here we go

Dude, I really need to check out Poser one of these days.
Nice work, I really like that it's an action piece. Also, those trees are really cool. As far as having to do a little post in Photoshop, we all do that. (though some of us use Gimp) I know I'm almost never happy with my renders until I screw with them in Gimp a little.

That's pretty friggin' sweet. I really like the meshes and textures you used. The background is cool also.

Something else to start experimenting with is 'Depth of Field'.
You want the background to be slightly out of focus - not drunken sailor blurry, but just a enough so that it gives it a more realistic feel.
Reality is always a bit blurry. More so for some of us. LOL!
All in all I say you're doing a damn fine job.
It looks more like Carrara renders than Poser. - But that's just my opinion. :laugh:
Seriously man, you're making progress in leaps and bounds.
